Binary Builder
Flip the 8 bits to build the target number against the clock — learn binary by playing.
About this game
Binary Builder teaches the binary number system by doing. You get 8 bits with values 128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 4, 2 and 1 — flip them on or off until their total matches the target number. A 90-second clock keeps the pressure on.
After a few rounds, reading binary becomes instinctive — a skill every computer science student needs. Targets start easy (1–31) and grow as you succeed.
How to play
- Press Start — a target number appears.
- Tap bits to switch them on or off; their values add up live.
- Match the target exactly to score and get the next one.
- Score as many as you can in 90 seconds.
Frequently asked questions
How does binary work?
Each bit is worth double the one to its right: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128. A number is made by adding the bits that are ON — for example 5 = 4 + 1.
What is the biggest number 8 bits can make?
255 — all eight bits on: 128+64+32+16+8+4+2+1.
