Zakat Calculator

2.5% zakat on cash, gold & silver (PKR).

About this calculator

Zakat is 2.5% of qualifying wealth held for a full lunar year — cash in hand and bank, gold, silver, trade goods and investments. This calculator adds up each asset type in PKR, applies the current gold or silver price to jewellery weights, and gives the exact zakat amount due, removing the uncertainty many people feel about whether they calculated correctly.

It also explains nisab, the minimum wealth threshold above which zakat becomes obligatory — equivalent to about 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver. Because the silver nisab is far lower, most people with modest savings find zakat applies to them, and the tool shows this clearly so the obligation is never missed or miscalculated.

How to use

  1. Enter your cash, bank balances and any money lent to others.
  2. Add gold and silver by weight in tola or grams, with the current rate.
  3. Include trade goods, stock and investments at current value.
  4. Review the total assets, the nisab check and your zakat due at 2.5%.

Frequently asked questions

What is the nisab for zakat?

Nisab is 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver (or the equivalent cash value). If your net zakatable wealth reaches nisab and a lunar year passes, zakat becomes obligatory.

Do I use the gold or silver nisab?

Scholars differ; many recommend the silver nisab because it is lower, meaning more people pay zakat and more poor people benefit. The calculator lets you check against both.

Is zakat due on personal jewellery?

Most scholars hold that zakat is due on gold and silver jewellery regardless of personal use, calculated at current market value. Personal-use items like clothes, furniture and the house you live in are exempt.
