About this calculator
Every Pakistani shop runs on udhaar — customers take goods on credit and pay later — and the paper bahi khata is how it has always been tracked. This web khata replaces the notebook: add a customer once, then record every lena (credit) and dena (payment) with a note and date, and the balance updates itself.
A positive balance means the customer still owes you; a negative balance means you owe them. Totals at the top show, at a glance, how much all customers owe you and how much you owe in return — the two numbers every shopkeeper checks daily.
There is no login and no account because your data never leaves your browser: it is saved only on this device, in this browser. That privacy has one honest trade-off — changing device, changing browser, or clearing browser data loses the khata unless you exported it first. Export JSON or CSV regularly, and use Import to bring a backup back.
How to use
- Add a customer with their name (phone is optional).
- Open the customer and record entries: Lena when they take on credit, Dena when they pay back.
- Read the running balance at the top of the ledger — positive means they owe you.
- Share the statement on WhatsApp straight from the ledger, or export JSON/CSV as a backup.
- To move to another device, export JSON here and import it there.
Frequently asked questions
Where is my khata data stored?
Only in your browser on this device (localStorage). It is never sent to any server, and there is no account to log into. Use Export to back it up.
What if I change my phone or clear browser data?
Your khata will be lost unless you exported it first. Export JSON regularly and keep the file safe; Import brings it back on any device.
How does WhatsApp sharing work?
It opens WhatsApp with the customer statement (entries + balance) prefilled as a message. You choose who to send it to — nothing is sent automatically.
Is this a full accounting system or tax advice?
No. It is a personal udhaar record for daily shop use. It is not a substitute for formal accounts, tax filing, or professional advice — verify tax matters with FBR or your accountant.
